STOPTECH RELEASES BIG BRAKE KIT FOR 2008 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT-8
Los Angeles (November 2008) – StopTech, a leading manufacturer, supplier and innovator of world class brake components and brake systems for production-based race cars and high performance vehicles on the street and track, today announced the release of 380mm front and 355mm rear Big Brake Kit (BBK) upgrades for the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 p. These are the same brakes that MOPAR selected for “Samantha,” their full-blown competition Dodge Challenger Targa that completed the infamous Targa Newfoundland race this year and was on display at SEMA 2008 in Las Vegas.
The front kit (part #83.242.6800.xx) for the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 comes with a pair of forged, six piston, patented ST-60 calipers, slotted or drilled floating directional 380x32 AeroRotors with billet aluminum AeroHats, both also awarded patents, billet aluminum mounting brackets, DOT-compliant stainless steel braided Teflon brake lines, and high performance street pads. The rear kit (part #83.242.0047.xx) swaps in a pair of forged, four piston, patented ST-40 calipers and slotted or drilled floating directional 355x32 AeroRotors.
StopTech’s BBKs provide shorter stopping distances, better brake modulation, firmer pedal feel and less brake fade resulting in stronger, more reliable performance. StopTech’s BBKs achieve this through larger rotors that increase heat capacity and dissipation coupled with stiffer calipers and stainless steel lines that reduce system compliance.
Targa Newfoundland is a grueling annual event spanning seven days and covering more than 1,300 miles of Canadian roads in sometimes brutal weather conditions. Of the 70 cars that started the 2008 competition, only 39 finished. The Dodge Challenger Targa and its StopTech brakes proved their mettle by finishing 2nd in class and 22 nd overall. This is the second recent success for Dodge on StopTech brakes. The Dodge Viper ACR, which sports StopTech AeroRotors as original equipment, set a new production car lap record at Germany's Nurburgring track.
StopTech was the first to offer balanced brake upgrades for production cars and remains the worldwide leader with more than 600 platform offerings to dramatically improve overall braking performance. StopTech’s industry leading technologies and materials, from rock solid calipers to ingeniously efficient heat handling rotors, result in shorter stopping distances, better brake modulation, and less brake fade. StopTech products can be purchased through automotive aftermarket parts stores, suppliers and online retailers. Check with retailers for pricing.
