STOPTECH CEO DINO CRESCENTINI ROCKETS INTO SCCA GT CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD WITH PODIUM FINISH IN LONG BEACH
LONG BEACH, CALIF. (April 2010)Dino Crescentini took the overall lead in the SCCA World Challenge GT 2010 season by fighting his way from a 6 th place start to a podium finish through the streets of Long Beach this weekend on StopTech Trophy brakes. In a race that demanded ultra performance, Crescentini was awarded "Best Move of the Race" for the bold pass deep into a turn that secured him a spot on the podium with a second place finish.
"It's all about turns and corners out here on the streets of Long Beach," said Crescentini, "I was going deeper into the turns knowing my brakes would be there when I needed them, and that was the edge I needed to pull off those passes. "Crescentini is the CEO of StopTech and has earned the nickname 'Street Fighter' for his gutsy moves in the turns on street courses. He now sits on top of the Driver's Championship with 292 Points.
The race in Long Beach will air on VERSUS on May 1 from 4:30pm-6:00pm (EST) and was Round Three of the SCCA World Challenge GT Series. Crescentini cruised to a first place finish in Round Two in Florida last month. His No. 4 Centric Parts/StopTech/GMG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is a 2010 model equipped with StopTech's track-only Trophy Big Brake Kit. Trophy BBKs feature ultra-lightweight yet super stiff racing calipers paired with StopTech’s patented AeroRotor/AeroHat two-piece rotors that significantly boost cooling airflow for consistent performance and pedal feedback under the unique combination of hard cornering and braking found on the track.
James Sofronas, Crescentini's teammate on GMG Racing, is only two points behind in the Driver's Championship in his No. 14 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 also running on StopTech Trophy brakes. The two of them have propelled Porsche into the lead with 21 points in the GT Manufacturer Championship. The next two races are set to take place at Mosport in Canada from May 21-23, 2010.
